HFC-227ea discharge areas present exposure, frostbite and decomposition risks. The following measures are mandatory for all personnel and contractors.

01 · SAFETY PROTOCOLS

Evacuation & Exposure Limits

  • Evacuate the protected space immediately on alarm activation.
  • Do not exceed 9% concentration exposure or 5 minutes duration.
  • Avoid skin contact with discharge to prevent frostbite.
  • Ventilate thoroughly if pungent decomposition odours are present.
  • Do not re-enter before ventilation is confirmed complete.
  • Wear appropriate PPE when handling discharged components.
02 · RESTRICTIONS

Chemical & Metal Restrictions

HFC-227ea must NOT be used on:

  • Reactive metals: lithium, magnesium, titanium, zirconium
  • Metal hydrides of any form
  • Self-oxidizing chemicals such as gunpowder and cellulose nitrate
03 · RE-ENTRY

Post-Discharge Re-Entry

  • Ensure complete ventilation after extinguishment.
  • Take special care with chemicals undergoing autothermal decomposition (organic peroxides, hydrazine).
  • Confirm ventilation with a supervisor before re-entry.
  • Monitor for decomposition odours during clearance.
  • Log the incident and system state before reset.
